An unassuming man, Veshnu nevertheless exudes self confidence and the awareness of a person immersed in his art, and the knowledge of his inner-self which he uses in his dance and choreography. Veshnu began his classical dance training in Bharathanatyam as a teenager under Mr V. Balakrishnan at Silat Community Club in Singapore. In 1987 he joined the Peoples Association Indian Dance Group directed by Mrs Neila Sathyalingam, who is also the director and choreographer of Apsaras Arts. During this period Veshnu performed in Major dance dramas such as Meenakshi Kalyanam, Ganesha Dance drama and Ritu Mahatmayam. Parallel to this Veshnu was also performing in Major National events like the Chingay Parade, Singapore Festival of Arts and the ASEAN Dance Festival.
In 1992 he joined as the cultural ambassador for Indian dance with the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board performing in countries including Switzerland, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, China, Malaysia, Japan and the Philippines.
Veshnu has spent several years in South India (Tamil Nadu) and has been finely moulded further in Bharathanatyam by Smt Krishnaveni Lakshmanan in Chennai. He also learnt from Smt Savitri Jaganatha Rao and later took up some intensive training under Professor C.V. Chandrasekar, an outstanding personality in the field. Veshnu also studied Carnatic music under the tutelage of Sri Sathyalingam (Singapore) and Sri Vaidhayanathan (Chennai). All this cross-disciplinary training culminated in making Veshnu a brilliant and enchanting solo dancer.
